Free booking software for Canadian campgrounds

Take bookings 24/7. Keep 100% of your nightly rate.

Guests book and pay online, day or night. The guest pays the small service fee — on a $60 night it's $3.54 — so the software costs you nothing monthly. And you don't build a thing: we set your listing up for you.

The tools, not the pitch

Built to give you your day back.

Everything below is the real product — real screenshots, and two pieces you can try right here on this page.

A calendar you drag, not retype.

A camper calls to move their weekend, and in the old system that's a delete, a re-entry, and a prayer you didn't double it up.

On Portage you drag the booking to its new site or new dates and you're done. Every site lives in one live calendar that updates the second a booking lands — from your page, from our directory, or from you taking one over the phone.

Try it — this little calendar works.

Go ahead — drag the Hendersons somewhere else.

Run it from your phone, from anywhere.

Old desktop programs live on one office computer — a Sunday-night refund means a drive to the office.

Portage runs in any browser, on any phone. Move a booking from the truck. Check tomorrow's arrivals from the dock. Train a summer student in an afternoon, not a month.

Maintenance lives in there too — log the broken picnic table when you spot it, and track what's fixed and what's waiting.

Charge what the date is worth.

Long weekends, July Saturdays, and a rainy Tuesday in June are not the same night — but a paper book prices them the same.

Set your own pricing rules once: weekend rates, seasonal rates, holiday pricing. Portage applies them automatically to every booking, and you can check any night's rate before it ever reaches a guest.

Minimum stays and blackout dates work the same way — set them once, and every booking respects them without you policing it.

Know your numbers without a shoebox of receipts.

Season's end shouldn't mean a week of reconciling paper stubs against your bank statement.

Every booking, payment, and refund is tracked as it happens. Revenue reports are ready to hand to your bookkeeper, and booking money is deposited to your bank account — no chasing, no platform holdback games.

Guests get confirmations and receipts automatically, and cancellations follow the refund policy you set. Your phone stops ringing for paperwork.

What's in the box

Everything you'd reach for during the season.

Run the season

The front desk, handled.

  • Drag-and-drop calendar — every site in one view; move a booking by dragging it.
  • Manage it from your phone — any browser, anywhere on the grounds.
  • Phone bookings too — take a reservation over the phone and it lands in the same calendar.
  • Bring your old reservation book — we import your existing reservations for you.
  • Maintenance tracking — log it when you spot it, see what's fixed and what's waiting.
  • Revenue tracking and reports — deposits to your bank, reports ready for your bookkeeper.

Grow bookings

More guests, same phone.

  • Customizable pricing rules — weekend, seasonal, and holiday rates applied automatically.
  • Minimum stays and blackout dates — set once, enforced on every booking.
  • Your own web address — guests type it and land on your booking page.
  • A listing on Northern Stay — campers already searching our directory find and book you.
  • Booking links and QR codes — for your signs, socials, and email.
  • Guest reviews and an announcement bar — social proof, plus events and weather notes right on your page.

How it works

Three steps. You only do the first one.

1

Tell us about your campground.

The short form at the bottom of this page — your name, your park, roughly what you offer. About 3 minutes, and you're done with the hard part.

2

We build your listing for you.

Photos, site types, rates, policies — our team sets it all up and sends it to you to look over, usually within a day. No software to learn before you've even started.

3

Take bookings. Call us when you need to.

Guests book and pay online around the clock. The money is deposited to your bank account. When you have a question, you reach a person — not a ticket queue.

The part everyone asks about

Free for campgrounds. The guest pays a small fee instead.

Sometimes as low as a few dollars — on a $60 night, the guest's fee is $3.54. Here is every cost in plain terms, and a calculator with nothing hidden:

  • 5.9% guest service fee — paid by the guest at checkout. Never by you.
  • Card processing — your only cost, at the standard rate (about 2.9% + 30 cents). Every booking platform on earth has this.
  • The free plan stays free. No expiry, no year-two invoice, no surprise "renewal pricing."
  • Tax on bookings is collected and remitted under CRA's platform economy rules.
  • We answer when something goes sideways.

What would you keep?

Your rate (2 nights)$120.00
Guest's service fee (5.9% — the guest pays this)$7.08
Guest pays, before tax$127.08
Card processing (your only cost)−$3.99
You keep$116.01

Card processing at the standard 2.9% + 30 cents on the charged amount. Tax is added at checkout, collected from the guest, and remitted under CRA platform economy rules — it never touches these numbers.

Who's behind it

A Canadian team that answers.

Portage is built and supported by the Northern Stay team in Vancouver. We work with more than 80 Canadian campgrounds, and most of the people who run them would rather be out on the grounds than learning software — so we do the setup, and we stay reachable after.

When you reach out, you're not in a ticket queue. You're talking to the people who built the thing.

Get set up

Let's get your campground taking bookings.
